Cyclopentanone is an organic compound, chemical formula C5H8O, colorless liquid, insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents, mainly used as drugs, biological products, pesticides and synthetic rubber intermediates. Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, and acetone. At high concentrations, it has anesthetic properties. Cyclopentanone can be prepared by oxidation of cyclopentanol.
